Skimmers

Suparskim is used to collect the surface layer from a tank, bath or pit, and transport it to the Suparator tank for separation. Because the Suparator performs best with higher flows, the Suparskimis designed to collect the top 1/4” of fluid. Higher flows prevent any clogging in the pipes or hoses.
Two basic skimmer types are offered: fixed and floating. Fixed skimmers can follow up to 6” of water level change while floating skimmer can follow any level variation.
Fixed Skimmer
The series fixed mounted Suparskim® skimmer are mounted at a fixed height and can accommodate for a level variation of up to 6”. The series 91 units have the suction pipe on the side, which makes it possible to mount them directly into the side of a tank or bath. They may also be mounted on a fixed pipe.
Floating Skimmer
The floating series 91 skimmers use the same, self-adjusting, skimmer trough, but are also fitted with one or more floats. The floats cause the skimmer to go up and down with the liquid level, the self adjusting trough then skims off only the top layer.
Features
- Self balancing pick up head can follow 6” in level variation
- High flows eliminate clogging
- Large pick up head can “swallow” foam and larger particles
- No floats or hoses in fixed skimmers
- Floating skimmers use durable stainless steel floats – can’t sink!
Popular Questions
Because the Suparator performs best with higher flows, the Suparskim is designed to collect the top ¼” of fluid. Higher flows prevent any clogging in the pipes or hoses and keeps the target tank oil film free. Our fixed skimmer is even hard piped. Removing the hose provides eliminates any possibility for clogging or crimping.
Suparskim is weighted and balanced to follow up to a 6″ variation in liquid level. As the liquid level rises in the wash tank, the fluid flows into the skimmer trough. When the trough fills, it causes the skimmer head to tilt backwards and reduce incoming flow. As flow is reduced, the skimmer trough lowers to allow more flow. Over time, the skimmer will approach steady state, where the flow into the trough equals the flow taken out.

Suparskim is designed with a self-pivoting trough that can handle floating debris with ease. If a larger piece of material is preventing flow into the skimmer, the skimmer trough will empty. This causes the skimmer to tilt forward and “eat” the material.
